About the
Lamps & Shades
In creating my collections, I restore vintage lamp bases, often rare, and source other bases from artists offering a select range of interest, uniqueness and artistry. Working with graphic designers on the metrics of fabric design, I then handcraft lamp shades to reflect the era of the restored base. The fabric is carefully selected for its motif, vibrancy of color and how it both absorbs and reflects light.
I use a variety of cotton, muslin and sateen blends both on the inside and outside of the shade. The combination of fabrics used are typically heavier, requiring a slightly wider seam than machine-made shades. The seam can run between the standard ½ inch to ¾ and up to 1-inch on the large shades.
Wires are high-quality10-gauge (or higher) powder-coated black, gold or white. All lamps are outfitted
with UL components.
