About the
Lamps & Shades
I create my collections by restoring rare vintage lamps and sourcing distinctive bases from select artists. Working with graphic fabric designers to refine the patterns, scale and proportions of a design, I then handcraft lamp shades to reflect both the era and character of each restored base. Some of my shades are uniquely designed to create a holographic effect when the light is on. The fabric is carefully selected for its motif, vibrancy of color and how it both absorbs and reflects light.
I use a variety of cotton, unbleached muslin and sateen blends both on the inside and outside of the shade. The combination of fabrics used are typically heavier, requiring a slightly wider seam than machine-made shades. The seam can run between the standard ½- to ¾-inch and up to 1-inch on the large shades.
Wires are high-quality 10-gauge (or higher) and powder-coated black, gold or white. All lamps are outfitted with UL components.
