Mid-Century Modern Revisited
“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.” — Robin Williams
Each lamp in this collection begins as a forgotten piece — a ceramic base rescued from an estate sale, a thrift shop shelf or a family's attic, sourced from across the US and beyond. These are original mid-century American pieces from the 1940s to the 1960s. Their decor reflects the artistic freedom of the early post-war years, with an unabashed creativity that looks almost maximalist next to today's minimalist trends in style and color.
By the mid-1900s, industrial ceramic production was in full swing, but American-made lamps stood apart from the imports arriving from abroad. They were heavier, with thicker walls and a glossier glaze. Ceramic lamps of this era have both heft and character, and the ones we find today are the last survivors of that period.
I select only pieces whose ceramic is in good original condition. Every lamp is rewired with high-quality UL-listed components, and each base is paired with a handcrafted shade that suits its era and distinct character.
These aren't reproductions of a vintage style. They are the real thing, restored and reimagined to bring a bit of joy to your space.
